Transition-ready skill and labour market

Investing in training programs that develop clean energy and climate-related skills is vital for a just transition, ensuring those impacted by the decline of fossil fuels have fair access to emerging opportunities

2030 Goals

01

Establish comprehensive, well-funded training programs to build the workforce needed for the climate transition and enable workers displaced by the decline of fossil fuels to transition seamlessly into emerging roles in clean energy and climate sectors. -Global stakeholders must work toward a unified funding strategy to support large-scale reskilling efforts, ensuring that the workforce is fully prepared to capitalize on the green economy's potential.

Status

No Progress

The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimates that transitioning to a green economy could generate approximately 24 million new jobs worldwide by 2030. However, achieving this potential will require significant investment in reskilling workers, and there is not yet a strong global consensus on how to fund these vital training programs.
