IDA21

The International Development Association (IDA) is the World Bank's arm that provides concessional lending to low- and lower-middle-income countries. IDA21, to happen in 2024, will replenish the World Bank’s concessional lending arm for the world’s poorest countries for next three-years. This will require a strong financing package from its donor countries to combat the recent reversal in development gains.

2030 Goals

01

Achieve significant funding to address the needs of the world's poorest countries, with an ambitious record IDA21 replenishment as a milestone against the challenge that donor contributions have been flat to IDA for almost a decade in nominal terms

Status

Moderate Progress

EMDE governments are pushing for a significant IDA replenishment that focuses on expanding energy access from renewables and increasing adaptation and resilience to climate impacts.

The WB has committed to tracking policy commitments against its new corporate scorecard in April 2024, which has raised concerns that key priorities that do not match the scorecard will be left behind.

There will be 5 replenishment meetings over 2024, with the final meeting including final pledges in December.
